Leonardo Di Vincenzo, Teo Musso, and Sam Calagione went in search of the origins of beer by recreating a prodigious recipe inspired by ancient fermented beverages. Using decidedly unusual ingredients for a beer (hazelnuts, pomegranates, natural resin, honey), based on archaeological finds, each brewery chose a different fermentation method. At Borgorose, the Etrusca rested in large terracotta amphorae. The result is a true "archaeological find." The dull amber color recalls that of amphora wines; the nose reveals hints of honey and red fruit, along with unusual mineral notes. On the palate, acidity dominates, and honeyed notes are once again followed by mineral nuances. Anyone who has the opportunity to taste this very special beer (produced in limited quantities) will be able to say they've had a sip of history!

What does IPA have to do with whiskey? The answer is simple, and it's called Jameson Caskmates IPA Edition, born from a collaboration with Cork-based Eight Degrees Brewing. Our blended whiskey, matured in ex-bourbon barrels and refined in ex-IPA beer barrels, combines the citrus and malt notes of IPA beer with the enveloping flavor of Jameson Irish whiskey. Tasting notes: Floral, hop, and grapefruit notes with a slightly fruity touch, enriched with hints of wood and hazelnut. In the Jameson IPA Edition, a whiskey aged in ex-IPA beer barrels, hops and citrus dominate, with sweet herbal notes and delicate spicy tones. The lingering aroma of fresh fruit and hops gives way to the scent of barley and an unmistakable smoothness of flavor.

Jameson Caskmates Stout Edition is a blended whiskey, triple-distilled in classic Irish style. It first matures in ex-Bourbon barrels, then in ex-Sherry barrels, and then undergoes a final stint in barrels that have been used for stout beer. The idea, which might seem strange, actually arose from a collaboration with Eight Degrees Brewing in Cork, located not far from the Jameson distillery, with whom they often collaborate. But as mentioned above, this is anything but a bizarre idea; for centuries, the Irish have been drinking a pint of Irish stout with a shot of whiskey, or even dropping it in to make the famous Irish Car Bomb cocktail. Tasting notes: Deep, dark golden in color, it's very interesting on the nose, a blend of biscuity malt and sherry, very spicy and full of flavors of coffee and chocolate. Purists might find it too daring. On the palate, it's fruity, alternating herbaceous flavors with delicate hints of apple, pear, and spices, before flowing into a chocolatey, espresso-filled finish. Medium-bodied, with a dry finish.
